As I write this we’re in Valentine’s week. Sadly someone very dear to me has been hospitalised with a lifestyle related heart condition and its left me thinking about how to make this Valentine’s Day really meaningful, how to love my heart unconditionally.
Most of you know how much I love to teach Self Love. You’ll probably also know that most teachers teach what they need and Self Love has been a long and rocky road for me. I’m by no illusion at the end of the journey but it is certainly I path I try to stick to as much as possible.
So with the spirit of St Valentine in the air, here’s my 54321 love fest…
5…
Clear the clutter. I mean this both figuratively and literally. Hanging on to possessions that no longer bring you joy or serve you causes unnecessary distraction in your life. Pick one drawer/cupboard in your home today and clear out the clutter
Similarly hanging onto mental clutter causes unnecessary pain and distraction in your life. One of the easiest ways to clear mental clutter is altered state breathing. I am doing a Breath and Cacao ceremony to celebrate Valentines day mindfully on Thursday 13th Feb at Hanya House and you can join by clicking here.

Nourish yourself with love. Feed your body and mind with tender loving care. Your body loves clean, healthy food. Don’t think restrictive, think enriching. I love chocolate (which is why we’re sharing cacao on Thursday night) but make it rich, dark and decadant, not sweet and artificial.
Your mind too, what are you watching, reading and filling your mind with. Does it uplift you, grow you, make you want to be a better version of you?
3…
Move with joy. Our lives are increasingly sedentary and we have to force ourselves to move. Often we will do what we think we HAVE to do instead of what feels good to do. Be curious about your aversion to movement. What did you love to do as a child? How can you bring some of that back to your life?
2…
Commune. Choose your tribe mindfully and meaningfully. An act of deep self love is to spend your precious time with people who lift you up. Support you. Want the best for you. Find them and keep them close.

The final act of Self-Love, don’t believe everything you think. Most of your thoughts are old programming from past experiences. Offer yourself the gift of presence and delve into those thoughts with curiosity.
May this Valentine’s Day be one of turning towards yourself with deep compassion, love and nurturing. May you love and tend to this body and this mind as if it were the only one you’ll ever have.
In grace & gratitude
Denise .
