Yoga

"The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships.” ― T.K.V. Desikachar

There are many reasons people are drawn to yoga, especially during periods of stress, change, or emotional overwhelm. For many of my clients in White River and the surrounding Lowveld, yoga begins as a way to:

  • to learn how to breathe properly
  • Release tension and move the body gently
  • Manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelm
  • Become more present and mindful
  • Reconnect mind and body
  • Find a supportive, like-minded community
  • Experience deep rest and relaxation

What brought you here? What are you hoping yoga might support you with right now?

For thousands of years, yoga has been used as a foundation for wellbeing, clarity, and personal growth. Not as a performance, but as a practice of learning how to live more consciously and with greater ease. It may be part of how you begin creating a life you love.

PERSONAL GROWTH THROUGH YOGA

My journey began on my yoga mat.

After many years of disconnecting from my body and living in survival mode, I found myself drawn to group yoga classes. As I began to feel more at home in my body, I realised that unprocessed experiences and past trauma were still shaping how I lived, coped, and related to myself.

Yoga became the gateway to deeper healing. By working with both mind and body, I was able to regulate my nervous system, soften long-held patterns, and begin imagining a different way of living.

Having witnessed the profound impact yoga had on my own life and on my students, I now integrate yoga in both therapeutic one-to-one sessions and group classes in White River. This work honours yoga as an ancient healing practice, applied in a way that is relevant, accessible, and grounded in modern nervous system understanding.

“Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.” -IAYT definition

YOGA THERAPY

“Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga.”
International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT)

As a yoga therapist based in White River, South Africa, my primary focus is supporting mental and emotional wellbeing, particularly anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation.

Through gentle movement, breathwork, relaxation practices, and embodied awareness, yoga therapy helps calm the nervous system and create the conditions for lasting change. This work is not about pushing or striving, but about safety, regulation, and self-trust.

Yoga therapy is most often offered one-to-one and is fully individualised. It can stand alone as a therapeutic support, complement coaching or mentorship programmes, or work alongside medical or psychological treatment where appropriate.

Yoga therapy can also be a supportive practice for those navigating serious illness, including during and after cancer treatment.

No prior yoga experience or flexibility is required. Yoga therapy meets you exactly where you are and supports your body and nervous system to move out of survival mode and into healing.
